data-css="tve-u-17d0f6eec2b">A more recent report by the Anxiety and Depression Association of America suggests that this figure has risen to some 40 million adults in the USA.</span></span></p><p data-css="tve-u-17d0f984740"><span data-css="tve-u-17db5cb5e41"><span data-css="tve-u-17daf9b405c"><span data-css="tve-u-17d0f6eec2c">According to the World Health Organization in 2017, the total estimated number of people living with Anxiety Disorders&nbsp;in the world is 264 million, an increase of 14.9% since 2005.</span></span></span></p><p data-css="tve-u-17d0f9f59bd" style=""><span data-css="tve-u-17d0f6eec2d">So you are not alone, and it is certainly not in any way your fault.</span></p><h3 class="" style="" data-css="tve-u-17f56ec4cad"><strong>Examples of Worry and Anxiety from the Authors Real life personal experiences</strong></h3><p data-css="tve-u-17d0f988f9c"><span data-css="tve-u-17d0f6eec30"><span data-css="tve-u-17db5cb5e45">F</span><span data-css="tve-u-17daf9b9f76"><span data-css="tve-u-17db5cb5e46">or <em>many years </em>I thought it “normal” to have those sweaty palms, heart palpitations, nausea, crippling stomach pains, and diarrhea (diagnosed as IBS), and I felt the dread of having to interact with other people, or would worry about what might become of me or a loved one</span>.</span></span></p><p data-css="tve-u-17d0f988fa1"><span data-css="tve-u-17daf9b9f88"><span data-css="tve-u-17d0f6eec31">For example, whilst in a senior management role for a very large corporation&nbsp;my worry and anxiety took a decisive grip over me and triggered my medically diagnosed IBS,&nbsp;just before I had to make a key presentation to a large number of my professional peers.</span></span></p><p data-css="tve-u-17d0f988fb1"><span data-css="tve-u-17daf9b9f8b"><span data-css="tve-u-17d0f6eec32">I was laid up in bed for four days, exhausted, dripping with sweat, feeling nauseous, and I would cycle between bouts of diarrhea&nbsp;(on one day) followed by constipation&nbsp;and bloating (the next day).</span></span></p><p data-css="tve-u-17d0f988fb3"><span data-css="tve-u-17daf9b9f8d"><span data-css="tve-u-17d0f6eec33">Yes, not a very pretty picture, and it didn’t help me with my travel plans one little bit, but at least I managed to avoid the danger of slipping into a crippling state of depression, or self-harming, or other serious long-term health issues.</span></span></p><p data-css="tve-u-17d0f988fb4"><span data-css="tve-u-17daf9b9f8e"><span data-css="tve-u-17d0f6eec34">And there were many occasions when all the noise and chatter&nbsp;of my mind (created from being in a constant state of worry and anxiety) would result in me missing some vital piece of information that I needed to know to complete some important or essential task.</span></span></p><p data-css="tve-u-17d0f988fb5"><span data-css="tve-u-17daf9b9f8f"><span data-css="tve-u-17d0f6eec36">I would then spend an age&nbsp;<em>beating myself up</em>&nbsp;mentally, for not paying attention and for having to suffer the consequences of not being able to do the important, or essential, task at the right time.</span></span></p><p data-css="tve-u-17d0f988fb6"><span data-css="tve-u-17d0f6eec37">So I know exactly what it is like to suffer from those intrusive and disruptive thoughts and emotions that lead you to overwhelm, exhaustion, anger, rage, panic attacks or depression, and self-harm or substance abuse, although fortunately through sheer determination I managed to avoid most of the consequences of the latter.</span></p><h3 align="left" class="" style="" data-css="tve-u-17f56eca7cc"><strong>So what can you do about your Worry and Anxiety – that actually works</strong></h3><p align="left" data-css="tve-u-17d0f98dc00"><span data-css="tve-u-17d0f6eec3a"><span data-css="tve-u-17daf9be55b">Like many others, I tried to escape from these negative consequences and sought help from a very <em>highly respected and renowned European clinic</em>&nbsp;that specializes in behavioral and cognitive counselling and mental wellbeing.</span></span></p><p data-css="tve-u-17d0f98dc05"><span data-css="tve-u-17daf9be56f"><span data-css="tve-u-17d0f6eec3c">Although it was very expensive (think&nbsp;<em><u><span data-css="tve-u-17d0f869b05">thousands</span></u></em> <em>of dollars)</em> and provided me with a coping strategy to <em>manage</em>&nbsp;my constant worry and anxiety, it proved to be of little lasting value in addressing the cause of the worry and anxiety.</span></span></p><p data-css="tve-u-17d0f98dc16"><span data-css="tve-u-17daf9be572"><span data-css="tve-u-17d0f6eec3d">This did, however, provide me with experience and insight into some of the traditional therapy&nbsp;strategies and techniques, one such therapy being&nbsp;the application of a structured MBCT&nbsp;program.</span></span></p><p data-css="tve-u-17d0f98dc18"><span data-css="tve-u-17daf9be573"><span data-css="tve-u-17d0f6eec3e">Numerous&nbsp;research studies now show that certain adaptions of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy&nbsp;with a mindfulness&nbsp;meditation, usually referred to as Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), can provide you with&nbsp;<em>some very real and significant&nbsp;</em><em>benefits</em>.<sup>9,10,11,12</sup>.</span></span></p><p data-css="tve-u-17d0f98dc19"><span data-css="tve-u-17daf9be575"><span data-css="tve-u-17d0f6eec3f">Benefits such as&nbsp;<em>you are less likely to die from a heart attack</em>,<sup>1,5,15</sup>&nbsp;that you are&nbsp;<em>43% less likely</em>&nbsp;to suffer from a&nbsp;<em>repeat bout of depression,</em><sup>10</sup>&nbsp;or to experience the&nbsp;<em>pain of a destructive behavior</em><em>, substance abuse</em><em>, or self-harm</em><em>,</em><sup>30,31</sup>&nbsp;or to&nbsp;<em>suffer from digestive diseases, including irritable bowel syndrome</em>&nbsp;(IBS).<sup>3,8</sup></span></span></p><p data-css="tve-u-17d0f98dc1a"><span data-css="tve-u-17daf9be576"><span data-css="tve-u-17d0f6eec40">You are able to relax, sharpen and focus your mind,<sup>27</sup>&nbsp;improve your memory and mood,<sup>12, 22</sup>&nbsp;master your emotions,<sup>11,15</sup>improve your memory,&nbsp;boost your energy levels and immune system,<sup>12,28</sup>&nbsp;lower your blood pressure,<sup>15</sup>&nbsp;and alleviate tension in your muscles.<sup>3,15</sup></span></span></p><p data-css="tve-u-17d0f98dc1b"><span data-css="tve-u-17d0f6eec41"><span data-css="tve-u-17db5ca8825"><span data-css="tve-u-17daf9be577">In fact, for those suffering from worry and anxiety, MBCT- and MBSR-based therapies can (eventually) positively impact almost all areas of your physical and psychological wellbeing, and some studies show that they are, in some cases, at least as good as prescribed drugs.</span></span><sup><span data-css="tve-u-17daf9be579">15,21</span></sup></span></p><h3 class="" style="" data-css="tve-u-17f56ecf91b"><strong><em>The challenge</em></strong></h3><p data-css="tve-u-17d0f993182"><span data-css="tve-u-17d0f6eec44">So, the challenge for me was: <em>How can you obtain these benefits without the very considerable time and effort necessary to achieve them using these traditional methods (which can take many months or years of specialised counselling), and in a way that provides predictable and consistent results, and takes less than 30 minutes a day to achieve?</em></span></p><p data-css="tve-u-17d0f993186"><span data-css="tve-u-17daf9c2dc1"><span data-css="tve-u-17d0f6eec45">After two years of extensive research and much experimentation, I eventually arrived at what I call my LENSE+GP method.</span></span></p><p data-css="tve-u-17d0f993198"><span data-css="tve-u-17daf9c2dc4"><span data-css="tve-u-17d0f6eec46">This&nbsp;really is worry and anxiety) to achieve the deep state of meditation necessary (an almost Zen like state of mind) to successfully, and consistently, interrupt and replace the underling thoughts and mindset that helps sustain your worry and anxiety.</span></span></p><p data-css="tve-u-17d0f99319a"><span data-css="tve-u-17daf9c2dc7"><span data-css="tve-u-17d0f6eec49">However, there is now a new science – and technology – based proven way (that has predictable and repeatable results) to control your thoughts and emotions&nbsp;(and therefore your actions and results), even if you have a very busy corporate or hectic lifestyle or career and you don’t have the time, or energy, for expensive therapy sessions.</span></span></p><p data-css="tve-u-17d0f99319b"><span data-css="tve-u-17d0f6eec4a"><span data-css="tve-u-17daf9c2dc8">And it doesn’t matter if you have lived most of your life suffering from the&nbsp;<em>significant negative consequences</em>&nbsp;to&nbsp;<em>your physical and mental wellbeing from worry and anxiety</em>, or if it has suddenly and unexpectedly grabbed hold of you, and you are wondering what is happening to you, or&nbsp;<em>“why me?”</em>, or&nbsp;<em>“what does all this mean?”</em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;</span><em><span data-css="tve-u-17daf9c2dca">“what does my future now hold for me?”</span></em></span></p><h2 data-css="tve-u-17d0f87ea5f" class=""
