Ever been told to “stop worrying”, or “worrying is completely pointless and can make you ill”...but you feel anxious and continue to worry anyway?

Consequences at the physiological level such as heart palpitations, clammy hands, sweating, irritability, muscle tension, concentration difficulties, indecision, restlessness, fatigue, agitation, stomachache, poor digestion, poor sleep and cell regeneration, leaving you feeling strung out and exhausted. 1-9
Consequences at the emotional level such as loss of control, anger, rage, a relentless feeling of dread, hopelessness, overwhelm, depression, lack of confidence and self-esteem, being on edge, impatience, a desire to hurt, a craving or dependency, or a need to have some drama in your life. 1-9
Consequences at the cognitive level where your thoughts generate worry and anxiety that relate to some future event, or something that might (or might not) actually happen at some (imagined) point in the future; that something awful might happen to you or one of your loved ones; those “what if,” or “when I,” or “I am not good enough,” fear-based thoughts. 9
So, does Worry and Anxiety cause YOU to become Physically or Emotionally unwell, stressed, or distracted and to lose focus on that important task? or from engaging and communicating clearly with people around you?

Your situation and life circumstances will of course depend upon several different (and unique to you) factors, and therefore you may be thinking that no one else will be suffering the way you are.
Sadly, that is not the case.
Studies, such as those published in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry back in April 2000,55 estimate that in America alone, approximately 27 million people have an Anxiety Disorder at some time in their life.
A more recent report by the Anxiety and Depression Association of America suggests that this figure has risen to some 40 million adults in the USA.
According to the World Health Organization in 2017, the total estimated number of people living with Anxiety Disorders in the world is 264 million, an increase of 14.9% since 2005.
So you are not alone, and it is certainly not in any way your fault.
Examples of Worry and Anxiety from the Authors Real life personal experiences
For many years I thought it “normal” to have those sweaty palms, heart palpitations, nausea, crippling stomach pains, and diarrhea (diagnosed as IBS), and I felt the dread of having to interact with other people, or would worry about what might become of me or a loved one.
For example, whilst in a senior management role for a very large corporation my worry and anxiety took a decisive grip over me and triggered my medically diagnosed IBS, just before I had to make a key presentation to a large number of my professional peers.
I was laid up in bed for four days, exhausted, dripping with sweat, feeling nauseous, and I would cycle between bouts of diarrhea (on one day) followed by constipation and bloating (the next day).
Yes, not a very pretty picture, and it didn’t help me with my travel plans one little bit, but at least I managed to avoid the danger of slipping into a crippling state of depression, or self-harming, or other serious long-term health issues.
And there were many occasions when all the noise and chatter of my mind (created from being in a constant state of worry and anxiety) would result in me missing some vital piece of information that I needed to know to complete some important or essential task.
I would then spend an age beating myself up mentally, for not paying attention and for having to suffer the consequences of not being able to do the important, or essential, task at the right time.
So I know exactly what it is like to suffer from those intrusive and disruptive thoughts and emotions that lead you to overwhelm, exhaustion, anger, rage, panic attacks or depression, and self-harm or substance abuse, although fortunately through sheer determination I managed to avoid most of the consequences of the latter.
So what can you do about your Worry and Anxiety – that actually works
Like many others, I tried to escape from these negative consequences and sought help from a very highly respected and renowned European clinic that specializes in behavioral and cognitive counselling and mental wellbeing.
Although it was very expensive (think thousands of dollars) and provided me with a coping strategy to manage my constant worry and anxiety, it proved to be of little lasting value in addressing the cause of the worry and anxiety.
This did, however, provide me with experience and insight into some of the traditional therapy strategies and techniques, one such therapy being the application of a structured MBCT program.
Numerous research studies now show that certain adaptions of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with a mindfulness meditation, usually referred to as Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), can provide you with some very real and significant benefits.9,10,11,12.
Benefits such as you are less likely to die from a heart attack,1,5,15 that you are 43% less likely to suffer from a repeat bout of depression,10 or to experience the pain of a destructive behavior, substance abuse, or self-harm,30,31 or to suffer from digestive diseases, including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).3,8
You are able to relax, sharpen and focus your mind,27 improve your memory and mood,12, 22 master your emotions,11,15improve your memory, boost your energy levels and immune system,12,28 lower your blood pressure,15 and alleviate tension in your muscles.3,15
In fact, for those suffering from worry and anxiety, MBCT- and MBSR-based therapies can (eventually) positively impact almost all areas of your physical and psychological wellbeing, and some studies show that they are, in some cases, at least as good as prescribed drugs.15,21
The challenge
So, the challenge for me was: How can you obtain these benefits without the very considerable time and effort necessary to achieve them using these traditional methods (which can take many months or years of specialised counselling), and in a way that provides predictable and consistent results, and takes less than 30 minutes a day to achieve?
After two years of extensive research and much experimentation, I eventually arrived at what I call my LENSE+GP method.
This really is about as effort free as it gets, since it’s based upon the combination of a particular mindfulness meditation and a specific thought control technique, combined with some scientifically proven Modern Technology that does most, if not all, of the work for you.
